The Measurement and Behavior of Unemployment by National Bureau of Economic Research

The Measurement and Behavior of Unemployment

by National Bureau of Economic Research

Book Description:
Princeton University Press, Princeton, 1957. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, no dust jacket, light green cloth with brown lettering on spine. Some pencil marks on front endpapers, otherwise all other pages are free of marks with the exception of some toning appropriate to the age of this book. Spine cocked very slightly (about 1/16"), binding tight.

Contents: A very relevant read given our current economic condition. Published in 1957, the goals of full employment were noted then, as they are now, to be the primary goal of economic policy. It is interesting in the book how they actually phrased the goal. They state the primary goal of economic policy "is the prevention of mass unemployment," rather then"sustainable full employment" - interesting. Part I: The Meaning and Measurement of Unemployment and Full Employment. Part II: The Behavior of Unemployment. 605 pages.
