How the Guggenheims Made Millions by Grasping Conditions by United States Milling and Smelting Co.

How the Guggenheim Made Millions by Grasping Conditions

by United States Milling and Smelting Co.

Book Description:
United States Milling and Smelting Co., Idaho Springs, CO. Soft cover. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Softcover, Saddle Stitch, Light Blue wrappers with Dark Blue title and decoration to cover. No Date. Estimated 1920-1940.

Book Condition:
Good, Significant rubbing, soil and tanning to covers, blue pen marks to back cover, some small rips and tears to edges. Interior is clean and free of marks with the exception of a pair of random staple holes (small) where the book was accidentally stapled near the bottom at some point.

Contents: This is very interesting and entertaining piece of History were Wall Street and Gold Speculation collide. There is no date on this book, but after researching some of the events found in this book I would put it somewhere between 1920 and 1940. The goal of this booklet is to persuade investors to invest/speculate in the United States Milling and Smelting Co., because they are about to build a custom Mill at the Mouth of the Newhouse Tunnel. (According to Wikipedia the Newhouse Mill was closed indefinitely in January 1943 after an accident killed 4 minors AND the federal government ordered all Gold Mines in the US to shut down, to free men and material to mine metals considered more essential to World War II. -- Here is the pitch on the back page of the booklet "Opportunity, The opportunity for expansion ahead of The United States Milling and Smelting Co. is so great as to be almost beyond credence. The Establishment of the Company's new mill at the mouth of the Newhouse Tunnel will open a new market, for the handling of a lower grade of ore than possible at the present time, and the influence of this corporation can be made to reach every section of the mineral bearing regions of the state. The local conditions in Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties are unsurpassed. Clear Creek itself flows sufficient water to generate electric power to supply every mine and mill in the two Countries, the volume is one hundred and forty cubic feet every ten seconds." -- An enticing pitch and as we look back to that period it's just another example of how unexpected outside interference can effect a host of great speculation opportunities. The last page lists the company's Branch Transfer office address in New York. Some great copywriting in this historical piece. 24 pages, Collectible.

The Importance of Knowing about Trends and Cycles in Business and Investment, XII Wall Street's Favorite Fifty, XIII. Trends and Cycles in the Stock Markets, Appendix. -- From the dust jacket cover: "In the aftermath of one of the most severe stock market dips in recent history, "Louis Bean's How to Predict the Stock Market" becomes an invaluable analysis of market behavior for layman and professional alike. Using the principals outlined in this book, Mr. Bean professionally advised his clients that the May, 1962 break was in the offing, and did so at the peak of the 1960-61 bull market. In this book, Mr. Bean applies the same seemingly uncanny talent to predicting the stock market that he has applied successfully to predicting weather, crops, business fluctuation, commodity prices, and of course, election results (he was almost alone in his prediction that the Democrats would win the 1948 election.) This Study is a clear and readable book, profusely illustrated with Charts, which shows that the factors that make the market move are there for all to see, and use, if one knows how to read them. -- Very interested book on forecasting, 242 pages, Collectible.
