Confusion de Confusiones

Confusion de Confusiones (English Version w/ 14 Page Introduction)
by Joseph de la Vega, translated by Professor Hermann Kellenbenz

Book Description: Baker Library, Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Boston, MA, 1957. Soft cover. Book Condition: Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Softcover, Saddle Stitch, brown wrappers with pasted title (white label with black text in black frame) to cover (see photo), Portions Descriptive of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange Selected and Translated by Professor Hermann Kellenbenz Hochschule fur Wirtschaftsund Sozialwissenschaften, ENGLISH VERSION, original Spanish version 1688, this translation 1957.

Book Condition: Very Good, wrappers show considerable wear, edges have small tears (nothing larger than 1/2"), wrappers tearing away from spine staples but still intact, covers faded and light soil, wrapper edges chipped in some places, spine faded, some light foxing to the first few pages, pages lightly tanned otherwise very clean internally and unmarked.

Contents: This book contains selected portions of the original 1688 version that were directly related to the Seventeenth Century Stock Exchange in Amsterdam. These accounts by de la Vega are widely regarded as the first written observations and descriptions of how the Stock Exchange operates. Trade and speculation in shares first appeared in Amsterdam when, in 1602, the six local "chambers" for East Indian trade were united into a general Dutch East India Company. This is a fascinating read on it's own, but I found the lengthy Introduction invaluable. This "Introduction" is not found in other versions of this book.Contains a two page Forward by Aurthor H. Cole, Research Center in Entrepreneurial History, Harvard University, and a fourteen page Introduction by the principle translator Hermann Kellenbenz. Professional traders will find the similarities of the Seventeenth Century Exchange far outweigh the differences of today's modern exchanges. The Introduction also includes some important historical content that provides a good backdrop for the de la Vega dialogues. 56 pages. A MUST READ for any serious trader. Extremely Scarce 1957 translation of this 1688 title, Highly Collectible.

Bookseller Note: This post depression title may be one of the best books you read this year. The conclusion that readers may get from his five examples of inflation/hyperinflation periods in history is that the way they play out is not only different in each situation, but more importantly that none of them played out the way previous economic theories expected them to. The big take-away is that the probabilities of the Fed managing our next hyper-inflationary period well are very low. Important and Collectible title on Inflation and Hyper-Inflation.

About the Author: Born in Germany, George Bayer moved to the United States in the early 1900's in order to satisfy his American dream of becoming a successful trader on New York and Chicago's speculative markets. Upon his arrival in New York it is supposed that Bayer started out as a stock broker and gravitated to the study of natural cycles within the markets. Though little was known about Bayer, we certainly can see today that he was a most prolific and highly successful writer of books regarding financial investment.

Bayer is also noted with having authored and published one of the most unique books about market analysis entitled, "Expert Stock Trader." His highly original theories and methodologies singled Bayer out as one of the great investment giants of his time. Much like his contemporaries W.D. Gann and R.N. Elliot, Bayer was also successful in accurately predicting price levels in market movements which undoubtedly yielded great profits, however unlike Gann, Bayer did not have a good grasp of trade management, even though he did write books on the subject. Bayer marketed his financial trading services to 300 clients who took his forecasts, yet there is no solid evidence that states he sold as many lessons on the subject as Gann did. Gann and Bayer did have in common their successful ability to deliver their trading theories through code in their writing and both did rely much on their study of ancient writings as the basis of their knowledge. One example is a book Bayer wrote entitled "George Wollsten: Expert Stock and Grain Trader," which is a story many believed was written with a code format which when decrypted, would reveal a hidden message leading to information on how to accurately calculate the natural cycles of markets. This title contains forecasting methods and trading rules based upon his astrological indicators and ellipse. Very Important and Rare work by Bayer on Financial Astrology. This Reprint is an exact facsimile of the 1940 Edition, but does not include the 12 laid-in charts advertised in the title, it does include the 3 illustrations and ALL content listed in the Table of Contents.

The Egg of Columbus or The Hidden Movements in Stocks and Commodities Markets

The Egg of Columbus or The Hidden Movements in Stocks and Commodities Markets
by George Bayer

Book Description: Alanpuri Trading, 2012. Soft cover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Softcover, Perfect bound, pictorial (vintage-look) photo wrappers, exact facsimile of the 1942 edition originally self-published by George Bayer, includes charts and and illustration,

Book Condition: Good, the majority of the reproduction is clear and clean, but the small dates of the charts (only 2 pages of charts) are difficult to read, all text is clear and legible, no dust jacket,

Contents: From the foreword, "The matter dealt with in this work is the hardest and most difficult subject anyone can touch. It attempts to explain the ways to make money in markets by the use of strange, natural, but true cycles. A tiny little bit of the surface is here but scratched, when we consider that some writers have used up 20,000 pages such as Swedenborg did; Athenaeus used for the same about 3,000 pages; one old Greek text in my possession used 18 pages to cover the laws.

Of course, every reader will realize quickly, as soon as he has completed his first reading, that the 20,000 page work of Swedenborg covers everything of life that possesses a cycle of any kind or description, while we, for practical trading, require but the very common major moves to make money in the markets. It would be a different story if we would want to get things down so close that each of the 400 or 500 contracts traded at this time during a trading day would be specified to the moment as well as to the exact eighth price. This actually is possible and in this direction I am a present working on my own research. You might gasp at this statement, but you soon will stop when you are through with this work, because you will have to catch you own breath to digest.

Do not think for a moment that there were not people living ages ago who were much smarter and wiser than anyone living today. I have my wisdom (that little which I have) from them, and don't owe the present generation a nickel's worth of thanks. The present generation actually held me back many years, having to wade through their works first until hard thinking put me on the right trail."

Summary: EXTREMELY SCARCE TRADING COURSE from Wyckoff written in the early 1930 (Wyckoff died in 1934). The course has stood the test of time. This is a very difficult title to find even in reprint form. Originals, if you can find one, are 5 figures. Wyckoff was a very disciplined trader and this course reflects his focus, tenacity and attention to detail. Bookseller Note: There seems to be some debate and confusion on different versions of this title and their publication dates. The title page on THIS version shows copyright dates from 1931 to 1944 (see title page photo), most of the individual pages have copyright dates of 1931 AND 1937. Unfortunately I can not speak to the reason behind the dates, but have done my best to present the data exactly as it appears on the documents themselves. We've included a complete Table of Contents (see photo or text above), so you can confirm whether this is the version you're looking for or not. The content in this hardbound reprint version is the same content that was originally sold through The Investment Centre Bookstore in Los Angeles in the 1970s and 80s. 400 pages. Highly Collectible Reprint.
